What is a 2024-S Patsy Mink Quarter Proof worth?

Age alone gives this coin a small premium, even worn. Sharp details and original surfaces push it higher.

What would make yours worth more:

  • Grade and, for proofs, strong cameo contrast
  • A die variety or minting error

For market prices, check recent sold results for certified coins in the same grade.

What to check on your 2024-S

  • Make sure the mint mark really is an S. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2024-D (187 million made).
  • Judge the grade under good light. Modern quarters are graded on luster, strike and marks. Proofs are judged on cameo contrast.

Proofs from 2024 come with and without frosted devices. Coins with strong contrast are labeled Cameo or Deep Cameo and are worth more.

How to recognize it

The Patsy Mink design

Patsy Takemoto Mink (1927 to 2002) of Hawaii became the first woman of color elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, taking office in 1965. She co-authored Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which bars sex discrimination in federally funded education programs. After her death the law was renamed the Patsy T. Mink Equal Opportunity in Education Act. The reverse shows her holding Title IX in front of the south wing of the Capitol, wearing a lei for her home state, with the inscription EQUAL OPPORTUNITY IN EDUCATION.

The American Women Quarter design

The obverse shows a new portrait of George Washington by Laura Gardin Fraser, originally submitted in the 1931 design competition. Each reverse honors a woman who shaped American history, with her name and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and QUARTER DOLLAR. Five honorees were issued each year from 2022 to 2025.
