What is a 2015-S Kisatchie Quarter Proof worth?
Age alone gives this coin a small premium, even worn. Sharp details and original surfaces push it higher.
What would make yours worth more:
- Grade and, for proofs, strong cameo contrast
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2015-S Kisatchie Quarter Proof rare?
- Not especially. The Mint made 831,503 for collectors. Most were kept in their original packaging.

- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2015 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is S, for San Francisco.
- How many 2015-S Kisatchie Quarter proofs were made?
- 831,503.
What to check on your 2015-S
- Make sure the mint mark really is an S. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2015-D (380 million made).
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
Proofs from 2015 come with and without frosted devices. Coins with strong contrast are labeled Cameo or Deep Cameo and are worth more.
How to recognize it
The Kisatchie design
A wild turkey in flight over bluestem grass, with longleaf pines in the background, represents Louisiana's Kisatchie National Forest on the second 2015 quarter. Kisatchie is the only national forest in Louisiana. Its upland pine forests, hardwood bottomlands and sandstone outcrops support a wide range of wildlife. Longleaf pine forests once covered much of the region. Susan Gamble designed the reverse and Joseph Menna sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
