What is a 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter worth?
A worn 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter rare?
- No. With 505 million made, it's one of the most common America the Beautiful Quarters.
- Is the 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2015 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is D, for Denver.
- How many 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter coins were made?
- 505,200,000.
What to check on your 2015-D
- Make sure the mint mark really is a D. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2015-P (326 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2015-S Blue Ridge Parkway Quarter Proof (831,503 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
With 505 million made, the 2015-D still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2015-D Blue Ridge Parkway
Denver made 505,200,000 of the Blue Ridge Parkway coin. That was the biggest Denver run of the 5 designs issued in 2015; Bombay Hook had the smallest at 206 million.
Philadelphia struck fewer of the same design (326 million), which makes the 2015-P the scarcer of the pair.
Across the whole program it's one of the most plentiful Denver designs.
How to recognize it
The Blue Ridge Parkway design
North Carolina's 2015 quarter, third of the year, shows a curving stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway hugging the side of a mountain, with flowering dogwood, the state flower, in the foreground. The scenic road runs about 469 miles through Virginia and North Carolina, linking Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains national parks. Construction began in 1935 but the final section was not completed until 1987. Frank Morris designed the reverse, which Joseph Menna sculpted.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
