What is a 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren Quarter worth?
A worn 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren Quarter rare?
- Not by date: 219 million were struck. A sharp uncirculated coin or a known variety is what makes one special.
- Is the 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2022 American Women Quarter?
- On the obverse (P, D or S). On this coin the mark is D, for Denver.
- How many 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren Quarter coins were made?
- 219,200,000.
What to check on your 2022-D
- Make sure the mint mark really is a D. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2022-P (225 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2022-S Nina Otero-Warren Quarter Proof (305,560 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Modern quarters are graded on luster, strike and marks. Proofs are judged on cameo contrast.
With 219 million made, the 2022-D still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2022-D Nina Otero-Warren
Denver made 219,200,000 of the Nina Otero-Warren quarter. That was the smallest Denver run of the 5 designs issued in 2022, so it's the one from that year you're least likely to find in change.
Philadelphia struck a similar number of the same design (225 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.
Across the whole program it sits 13th of 20 Denver designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Althea Gibson at 32 million.

The American Women quarters program began, alongside a new obverse portrait of Washington by Laura Gardin Fraser.
How to recognize it
The Nina Otero-Warren design
Nina Otero-Warren (1881 to 1965) was a leader of the suffrage movement in New Mexico, working to win support for the Nineteenth Amendment. In 1917 she was appointed superintendent of Santa Fe County's public schools, the first woman to hold that post. In 1922 she won the Republican nomination for Congress, though she lost the general election. The reverse shows her beside three yucca flowers, New Mexico's state flower, with the slogan VOTO PARA LA MUJER, Spanish for Votes for Women. Chris Costello designed it and Craig A. Campbell sculpted it.
The American Women Quarter design
The obverse shows a new portrait of George Washington by Laura Gardin Fraser, originally submitted in the 1931 design competition. Each reverse honors a woman who shaped American history, with her name and the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM and QUARTER DOLLAR. Five honorees were issued each year from 2022 to 2025.
