What is a 2019-P War In The Pacific Quarter worth?
A worn 2019-P War In The Pacific is a spender: face value. A bright uncirculated one, or one with a known error, is worth setting aside.
What would make yours worth more:
- Uncirculated condition with full original luster
- A die variety or minting error

Quick answers
- Is the 2019-P War In The Pacific Quarter rare?
- No. 117 million were made, a typical run for the series. Condition and varieties decide its value, not the date.
- Is the 2019-P War In The Pacific Quarter silver?
- No. It's copper core clad in 75% copper / 25% nickel. Quarters dated 1964 and earlier are 90% silver.
- Where is the mint mark on a 2019 America the Beautiful Quarter?
- On the obverse, to the right of Washington's ribbon. "W" quarters were struck in 2019 and 2020 and released into circulation in small numbers. On this coin the mark is P, for Philadelphia.
- How many 2019-P War In The Pacific Quarter coins were made?
- 116,600,000.
What to check on your 2019-P
- Make sure the mint mark really is a P. A worn or filled mark can be misread. It's what separates your coin from the 2019-W (2 million made).
- Proof or circulation strike? A proof has mirror-like fields and frosted design details and was sold to collectors, not released in change. The 2019-S War In The Pacific Quarter Proof (710,853 made) is the one to compare with.
- A face that's fully copper colored could be a missing clad layer error. Patchy discoloration is usually damage.
- Judge the grade under good light. Look for luster and freedom from bag marks. "W" quarters in circulation are worth a premium even in average condition.
With 117 million made, the 2019-P still turns up in everyday change. Keep yours only if it looks uncirculated or shows a variety; otherwise it's worth face value.
The story of the 2019-P War In The Pacific
Philadelphia made 116,600,000 of the War In The Pacific coin. That was the smallest Philadelphia run of the 5 designs issued in 2019, so it's the one from that year you're least likely to find in change.
Denver struck a similar number of the same design (114 million), so neither mint's version is much harder to find.
Across the whole program it sits 20th of 56 Philadelphia designs by mintage, where the scarcest is Chaco Culture at 22 million.
Elsewhere in US coinage in 2019
The West Point Mint struck quarters with a "W" mint mark for the first time and released them into circulation to encourage people to search their change.
How to recognize it
The War In The Pacific design
Guam's War in the Pacific National Historical Park, the third design of 2019, shows American forces coming ashore at Asan Bay. These landings in July 1944 began the battle to liberate Guam, which Japanese forces had occupied since December 1941. The park preserves invasion beaches and battlefield sites. It honors those who took part in the Pacific campaigns of World War II. Joel Iskowitz designed the reverse and Michael Gaudioso sculpted it.
The America the Beautiful Quarter design
Each reverse shows a national park or other national site, one for every state, the District of Columbia and five territories, with the site's name, its state and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Five designs were issued each year from 2010 to 2020, followed by a final design for the Tuskegee Airmen in 2021. The obverse uses a restored, more detailed version of Flanagan's original Washington portrait.
