What is a 2019-S Silver Eagle Enhanced Reverse Proof worth?
The 2019-S Silver Eagle Enhanced Reverse Proof is a significant rarity among Silver Eagles. Its value comes from the tiny mintage, not the silver. Collectors pay many times metal value for genuine examples, with certified high grades bringing the most.
Metal value = troy ounces of silver × the day's spot price. For collector versions, check recent sold results for the same version and grade.
Every 2019-S Silver Eagle Enhanced Reverse Proof version
| Version | Mint mark | Size | Mintage | Value band |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enhanced reverse proof | "S" | 1 oz ($1) | 29,913 | Significant rarity |
There is only one 2019-S enhanced reverse proof. Its finish is unlike a regular proof: instead of mirror fields with frosted design, the fields are frosted with mirror-bright details and extra textures on parts of Liberty and the eagle. The 2019-W enhanced reverse proof uses a similar finish, so the mint mark on the reverse beside the eagle's tail is what separates them: S for this coin, W for the set coin. A regular 2019-S proof has the normal mirror fields, so the finish tells you which S coin you have. Bullion coins from 2019 have no mint mark and an ordinary finish. Check weight and size too.

The story of the 2019-S Silver Eagle Enhanced Reverse Proof
The 2019-S enhanced reverse proof holds the record as the lowest mintage American Silver Eagle: 29,913 coins. San Francisco struck it with a finish that mixes frosted and mirror surfaces in the reverse of a normal proof, with additional textures on parts of the design. The Mint sold it on its own late in 2019, in the same year as the West Point enhanced reverse proof from the Pride of Two Nations set.
Demand was enormous. Collectors knew the mintage would be low and the coins sold out almost at once, leaving many would-be buyers empty-handed. Within days the coin was established as the new key of the modern series. It pushed the 1995-W, at 30,125, into second place for the lowest mintage Silver Eagle, a spot the 1995-W had held for almost a quarter of a century.
The 2019-S stands apart from the rest of 2019. The year's other versions, bullion, the S and W proofs, the W burnished coin and even the West Point enhanced reverse proof with 99,675 made, are all far more common. That gap is why the 2019-S has its own page. Because it is valuable, it has also attracted fakes. The similar West Point coin is sometimes confused with it. The mint mark is the first thing to check on any 2019 enhanced reverse proof. The coin came in a capsule inside Mint packaging with a certificate of authenticity.
2019-S Silver Eagle Enhanced Reverse Proof by the numbers
With 29,913 struck, it ranks as the lowest mintage of the 77 proof, burnished and special-finish Silver Eagles from 1986 to 2024. The others at the bottom of the list are the 1995-W proof (30,125), the 2020-W proof (V75 privy) (74,709) and the 2019-W enhanced reverse proof (99,675).
For comparison, the Mint sold 14.9 million bullion Silver Eagles dated 2019, about 497 times as many as this version. That gap is the whole story of its value: the silver in both coins is identical.
What to check on yours
- Weigh and measure it. A genuine one ounce Silver Eagle weighs 31.103 g and measures 40.6 mm. Fakes are usually the wrong weight or the wrong thickness.
- Try a magnet. Silver is not magnetic, so a coin that sticks is not genuine. A coin that does not stick still needs the other checks.
- Look for the mint mark. Bullion strikes have none; proofs and burnished coins carry a small letter. A mirror field with frosted design means a proof, a soft satin look means burnished.
- Handle it by the edge and never clean it. Fingerprints, wiping and polishing leave marks that cost collector versions much of their premium.
- Keep the original capsule, box and certificate with collector versions. Coins that come with them are easier to sell and more likely to bring their full premium.
The 2019-S enhanced reverse proof is a significant rarity and one of the most sought-after modern Silver Eagles. Demand comes from collectors building complete proof runs and from those who chase special finishes. Condition matters: coins at the top of the grading scale draw the strongest interest. The delicate finish shows any handling. Keep the coin in its capsule with the original box and certificate. For a coin this valuable, grading by a major service is worth considering before any sale. Never clean it.

Frequently asked questions
How many 2019-S enhanced reverse proof Silver Eagles were made?
Only 29,913, the lowest mintage of any American Silver Eagle. It sold out almost immediately when the Mint offered it in 2019 and is now a significant rarity, ranking just below the 1995-W in fame.
What is the difference between the 2019-S and 2019-W enhanced reverse proofs?
The mint mark and the mintage. The 2019-S was sold on its own, 29,913 made. The 2019-W came in the Pride of Two Nations set with the Royal Canadian Mint, 99,675 made. The finishes look very similar.
Is the 2019-S enhanced reverse proof rarer than the 1995-W?
By mintage, yes, though only just. The 2019-S had 29,913 made against 30,125 for the 1995-W. Both are significant rarities. The 1995-W is the more famous of the two because it has been the series key for much longer.
